For those who don’t know Julia Hillebrand, meet the new Champ of Champs! Julia claimed the title last week at Merton Road, securing a well-deserved victory.
Julia, 16 years old, is on an exchange year from Germany and currently studying at Epsom Girls Grammar. She has been training at Lavie Tennis Academy since last July as part of our 16U Performance Team, working under the guidance of Coach Dan Persson. She’s also a regular on our ITF Tour Team throughout the year.
Julia plays an aggressive baseline game, using her flat backhand to set up points and confidently approach the net. It’s fantastic to see her take out the Champ of Champs title, adding some New Zealand silverware to her achievements before finishing her exchange at the end of Term 2.
Every player brings their own personality and character to training, traveling, and daily academy life. Julia’s energy and humour will definitely be missed when she heads back in a few months!
