On 5 April, Coach Sebastian Lavie will travel to Malaysia with Jake Karatha, Jacques Rupe, and Neve Upston, where they will represent Team New Zealand at the 14U World Junior Teams Asia-Pacific Qualifying Event.

This prestigious event serves as the regional qualifier for the World Junior Teams Finals, held in Czechia this August.

Team New Zealand will compete against top nations such as Australia, China, Japan, Korea, and 11 others, all battling for one of just three spots available for the world stage. Each tie will be played daily in the hot and humid conditions of Kuching, with the outcome decided by two singles and one doubles match.

It’s been over a decade since New Zealand last qualified for the World Junior Teams Finals, so we’re incredibly proud to see this team step up to the challenge. We’re especially excited to see two Lavie players — Jacques and Neve — who first joined the academy as Orange and Green ball kids, now representing their country over five years later.
